Editorial Standards
A clear account of the processes behind every article: how topics are chosen, how sources are evaluated, and how corrections are handled.
01 — Foundation
Marleno Journal operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.
This publication was founded on a simple premise: men's everyday wellness and lifestyle content deserves the same editorial rigour applied to any other area of sustained editorial interest. Not urgency. Not alarm. A considered, unhurried account of daily life, habits, and the spaces in between.
Articles published on Marleno Journal are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on everyday wellness practices. The content is not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.
02 — Process
Article proposals originate from the editorial team or from contributing writers. Every proposal is evaluated against two criteria: does it address a genuine aspect of men's daily life or wellness practice, and does it bring an angle not already addressed in recent issues? Proposals that rely on trend-chasing or urgency-framing are declined.
Writers are expected to ground their articles in peer-reviewed research, qualified sources, and first-hand observation where relevant. Sources are assessed for independence: commercial relationships between a source and the subject matter are flagged. Where specific nutritional or fitness claims are made, the underlying published research is cited in a sourced-reading note appended to the article.
Every article passes through a two-stage review: a structural review from the assigning editor, then a fact-check pass by a second editor. The fact-check pass concentrates on specific claims — numbers, study references, named sources — rather than on style. Style is the writer's domain; accuracy is a shared responsibility.
Before publication, writers submit a brief disclosure statement confirming that no undisclosed commercial relationship influenced the article. Where a writer has a relevant affiliation, this is stated at the foot of the article. Sponsored content — when it occurs — is clearly labelled as such and kept editorially separate from independent writing.
When a factual error is identified — whether by a reader, a source, or the editorial team — the article is updated within 48 hours and a correction note is appended at the foot of the piece, timestamped and describing what was changed. Corrections are not removed from the public record. A correction is not a failure; it is part of the editorial process.
03 — Sources
Marleno Journal draws on published nutritional research, established fitness methodology documentation, and the observed practices of qualified wellness professionals. Where general lifestyle observations are made — morning routines, wardrobe planning, seasonal adaptation — these are presented as observations, not as directives.
We do not cite commercial press releases as primary sources. Product endorsements are not presented as editorial findings. The distinction between a writer's personal observation and an evidence-based finding is maintained throughout.
04 — Independence
Marleno Journal is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.
Advertising, if present, is visually and editorially separate from written content. Advertisers do not influence article selection, framing, or conclusions. Writers are not informed of advertising relationships when assigned to a topic.
05 — Scope
Fitness & Movement
Coverage of strength training, outdoor fitness, active recovery, and body composition draws on established exercise methodology and the documented practices of qualified fitness professionals. Performance claims are avoided.
Nutrition & Meal Practice
Articles on protein-rich meals, meal prep, and healthy eating for men are grounded in published nutritional research. Specific dietary claims reference their source. We do not advocate for proprietary supplements or branded nutritional products.
Grooming & Lifestyle
Grooming essentials, personal care routines, seasonal wardrobe guidance, and the modern gentleman's everyday approach are covered as lifestyle observation. This content reflects the writers' experience and considered perspective rather than prescriptive instruction.
06 — Writers
Marleno Journal publishes writing from a small, consistent group of contributors alongside occasional guest pieces. Permanent contributors are selected based on demonstrated editorial judgement, subject knowledge, and a writing voice that fits the publication's register: considered, unhurried, and precise.
Guest contributors are approached by the editorial team or submit proposals through the contact form. All guest contributions go through the same review process as staff writing. A guest contributor's professional background is described in the author note; credentials are not used as proxies for accuracy.
We recommend speaking with a qualified wellness or nutrition professional before introducing any new habit or routine to your daily life, particularly if you have specific dietary requirements.

07 — Questions
No. Editorial decisions — which topics are covered, how they are framed, what conclusions are drawn — are made entirely by the editorial team. Advertisers are not consulted about content, and their presence or absence in the publication does not affect which subjects are addressed.
When an error is identified, the article is updated and a correction note is appended at the foot of the piece, timestamped and describing exactly what changed. Correction notes are not removed. Readers who identify errors are encouraged to write to the editorial team via the contact form.
Specific claims about nutrition, body composition, or fitness outcomes are cross-referenced against published research and noted with source references. General observations about everyday habits are presented as such — observations, not independently tested findings.
Requests for syndication or translation should be directed to the editorial team. All content remains the copyright of Marleno Journal or the named contributor. Brief quotation with attribution is acceptable under standard editorial practice; reproduction of full articles requires written agreement.
The editorial team can be reached via the contact form on this site or directly at [email protected]. For pitch proposals, corrections, and reader correspondence, use the same address. Response times are noted in the writer guidelines section above.
